Free and Cheap Stuff Happening This Weekend in Long Beach
If you’re one to plan ahead, Thursday (not Saturday morning) is the day you start thinking about the weekend. Not to worry, here’s a list of fun stuff to do that won’t cut too far into your budget:
- Pirate Festival at Shoreline Village (free). Hang out with rogues and pirates between 1pm and 7pm.
- Reggae Festival at Long Beach City College, PCH Campus (cash donation). Chill to the rhythms of Pato Banton and the Mystic Roots Band, the Bredrin Daddys, Chapter 11, Nobody Cares, Inhale, Qwiksand and Live@Subs between noon and 7pm.
- ICT “Theatre Through The Ages” (free). This is part of ICT’s free family event series, geared towards exposing kids to theatre. Performance begins at 11am.
- 2nd Saturday Art Walk in the East Village. The Art Walk is a popular monthly street fair; if you’ve never explored the shops, galleries and eateries in the East Village, this is the time to stop by. 4-10pm.
- Flyer at Buster’s Beach House (you buy your own drinks). Flyer has been playing live rock’n'roll at Buster’s for almost…wait for it…30 years. Not 30 weeks or months, but 30 years. Stop by Buster’s at 8:30pm to experience it—you may be one of the only people in Southern California who hasn’t already seen the show.
