Where to Watch the Game in Long Beach
The NFL season begins tonight with a showdown between the Giants and the Redskins. Where are you headed? Here’s a look at some of Long Beach’s most popular sports bars:
- Legends. 5236 E 2nd Street, Long Beach, 562-433-5743. This is the original sports bar! Legends generally has a packed house of fans with their eyes glued to one of the many flat screens. And no matter where you sit, you can see one of the two 50-inch HD flat screens on each side of the room. If you’re lucky, you can get a seat in the upstairs VIP box, where you can enjoy the in-demand, pay-per-view boxing and UFC events.
- Shannon’s Bayshore. 5335 E 2nd Street, Long Beach, 562-433-5901. A longtime favorite in Belmont Shore (only a block from Legends), Shannon’s is cozy and relaxed. Watch the game on one of 12 TVs while you enjoy a cocktail.
- Cirivello’s Restaurant & Sports Bar. 4115 Viking Way, Long Beach, 562-420-2113. Cirivello’s is a favorite destination for recreational sports teams; they cruise into the place in packs and order multiple pitchers of beer. There are TVs everywhere, lots of tables and even a game room for the kids.
- Corrigan’s Sports Bar. 4700 Airport Plaza Drive, Long Beach, 562-425-5210. Corrigan’s is located insite the Long Beach Marriott hotel (near the airport) and so is somewhat more subdued than the other options. If you like to have some food and watch the game with as few disastractions as possible, head to Corrigan’s.
- Murphy’s at The Belmont. 4918 E 2nd Street, Long Beach, 562-438-1176. Murphy’s is ultra local and casual. It’s located upstairs The Belmont Athletic Club and features patio seating above 2nd Street, which is great for people watching. Your choices for beer at Murphy’s are many, but the food is limited to sandwhiches and salads. And, of course, the TVs are always on. To get in, head up the stairs located right in front of The Belmont.
