Long Beach Rowing Association Dominates at the Nat’l Championships

The Long Beach Rowing Association took it to the competition at the US Rowing Masters National Championships, a four-day event held between August 14 and August 17 at Long Beach’s own Marine Stadium. The Long Beach Rowing Association tallied up 10 wins in various events, starting with Rob Perrot and Juan Felix grabbing first place in the men’s Heavyweight C 2x final. The rowers then joined teammates Bill Bater, Dan Sayner and Mark Mason to win the men’s Heavyweight D 4+. Roger Borggaard, Chuck Pieper, Claudia Schneider and Elaine Aber pulled out a victory in the Mixed F 4x, while Chuck Selden and Dennis Sitek won the men’s Heavyweight E 2x. Other wins for the Long Beach Rowing Association included the men’s Heavyweight C 2 (Bruce Ibbetson and Dan Johnson), men’s Heavyweight F 4x (Rob Slocum, Paul Knight, Peter Rasmussen, and Chuck Pieper), the Men’s Heavyweight F 4+ (Chance Gath, John Van Blom, Peter Rasmussen, Steve Nowinski, and Paul Knight) as well as the Mixed E 2x with Stephen Nowinski and Deborah Nowinski. Congratulations to these Long Beach athletes and the team for a successful, competitive showing at the event.
