Satisfy Your Inner Artist: The East Village Arts District

Published by longbeachcaliforniaexpert at 8:48 pm under Nuts and Bolts Edit This

The East Village Arts District is a neighborhood in the Downtown area of Long Beach, bordered by Ocean Boulevard (south), Long Beach Boulevard (west), 10th Street (north) and Alamitos Avenue (east). The community is markedly urban but still charming in a rough-around-the-edges kind of way. Peppered with historic buildings, loft apartments, art galleries, funky shops, independent restaurants, hotels and locals (who live, work and play in the East Village), this community is definitely an interesting destination. Also to its credit is a surprisingly convenient location; the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center and the hot spots of Downtown Long Beach are within walking distance.

The best time to visit is on the second Saturday of every month. East Village hosts an open house/street fair of sorts known as the 2nd Saturday Art Walk. The event is held between 4 pm and 10 pm and offers free, art-oriented entertainment to everyone who shows up. You might have to pay for parking if you can’t find a free spot within walking distance.
