Top Places for Breakfast in Long Beach

Apparently there’s no easy way to find out where to have breakfast in Long Beach. You could search CitySearch or Google “Long Beach breakfast,” but you may run across places that: a) do a lot of online self-promoting when they should be working on making their food taste better or, b) have been closed for several years. With that in mind, here’s a list of some of the more popular (and still open) breakfast destinations in Long Beach.

  • La Creperie Cafe. This place is all about the Parisian atmosphere. Plus it’s located in the heart of Belmont Shore/2nd Street, so you can spend a few hours shopping after you eat. The address is 4911 East 2nd Street. ($moderate)
  • Gitana’s. Enjoy multigrain waffles and pancakes in the waterfront Shoreline Village area. Enough said. ($moderate)
  • Archibald’s. This is THE place for a greasy breakfast burrito and they serve omelettes too. The address is 4600 East 2nd Street in Belmont Shore. ($cheap)
  • Omelette Inn. Well they serve pancakes and French toast, but you’d go there for a rad omelette stuffed with your favorite ingredients. Omelette Inn only serves breakfast and lunch, but you can get either anytime between 7am and 2:30pm. As of this writing, Omelette in located at 108 West 3rd Street in Downtown Long Beach, but it will be moving shortly to 318 Pine Avenue. ($moderate)
  • Buster’s Beach House. Buster’s has a great waterfront location, plus a full breakfast menu of baked goods and the usual eggs, bacon, pancakes, Belgian waffles, skillet dishes and more. Head to Alamitos Bay to get there; the address is 166 Marina Drive. ($moderate)
  • Chuck’s Coffee Shop. Chuck’s Coffee Shop gets a notable mention, because some people just love eggs topped with chili. Chuck’s is definitely an acquired taste. Find it at 4120 E Ocean Boulevard in the Belmont Shore area. ($cheap/moderate)
