Long Beach Jazz Festival This Weekend

For more than 20 years, jazz artists, food vendors, artists and jazz enthusiasts have gathered on the grassy area that surrounds Rainbow Lagoon in Long Beach. The 2008 event opened today at 5 pm and will continue until Sunday, August 10. If you love jazz and you live within driving distance of Long Beach, it’s definitely worth the trip—especially if you can gather a bunch of friends to join you. Featured performers will include Whispers, Down To The Bone, Poncho Sanchez, Commodores and Superstars of Jazz Fusion.

Now for the bad news. You can’t bring food through the gates, so eat up early and/or plan to spend some money inside. Also, admission will cost you $50. Next year, plan to buy your tickets in advance to save a few bucks.

Gates open at 11 am; the show begins at noon and continues until 10:30 pm. Bring at least $10 to pay parking. To get there, head to Shoreline Drive and Pine Avenue in Long Beach and follow the signs.
